John-Paul Muir has established himself as one of the finest pianists to emerge from New Zealand in recent years, and certainly one of the most versatile; equally at home in both classical, jazz, and contemporary genres.

In 2010, having received top honours in all of New Zealandʼs major music competitions, he graduated from the University of Auckland with a Master of Music degree under the guidance of Rae de Lisle, and moved to London to study with Senior Professor Joan Havill at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He has since graduated with distinction from their Artist Masters Programme, and is currently enjoying a freelance career based in London.

In addition to his classical studies, John-Paul maintains a passionate interest in jazz and improvisation, and since his studies with Kevin Field at the University of Auckland, has enjoyed collaborating with many of New Zealandʼs finest jazz musicians. He currently hosts a regular jazz night in Bloomsbury, featuring an ever- evolving roster of musicians from the London circuit.
